What is an art hanging system?
Eyevolution offers a range of art hanging systems for art galleries and picture displays. You can display art in a professional, adaptable, and secure manner thanks to our picture hanging systems.
A picture rail is basically a rail with picture hooks or picture hanging cables hanging from it allowing you to display your pictures or art. Ranging from small photo displays to expert museum systems that can support heavy weights.
In this article, we provide some information about what an art hanging system is as well as the installation so you can make the best decision on what systems you would like to use for hanging your gallery.
Making the choice of how to exhibit your art can be just as crucial as producing it, whether for commercial or personal use. When hanging your artwork, art hanging displays make it easier, more versatile, and less constrained.
You can hang both framed and unframed art, keeping your walls organised and damage-free. Hanging systems might just be the answer you're looking for, whether it's an important document, a child's art, or a promotional item.
Show off your gallery with style using picture hanging systems - The advantages
Flexible and simple to use
The main benefit of having a picture hanging system is that it makes it exceedingly simple and quick to hang, remove, and rearrange the images on your walls. For example, you could easily stack several pieces of artwork in a vertical column by adding multiple hooks to a single cable.
No drilling, no mistakes
Even while installing such a system frequently necessitates drilling holes into your walls [at the top of the wall, where it meets the ceiling], it should only be necessary once, and it can be done by hiring a competent installation provider.
You won't need to use any tools or drill holes in your walls to further harm them once the system is in place. You'll also reduce any chance of producing errors or misalignment works if you're prone to DIY disasters. It only takes a few seconds to clip in a cable and position your hooks with a picture hanging system.
Professional and clean gallery display
Another benefit of using a picture hanging system to display your art/picture gallery is the aesthetic appeal. Your picture gallery will look absolutely stunning on your wall or suspended from your ceiling. The artwork can easily be cleaned and will impress anyone.
How do picture rails work?
With the aid of a picture rail hook, you can use the picture rail to hang a hook from which you can attach a cord, wire, or cable. (The picture rail hook's bigger hooked end is placed over the picture rail.) The picture frame's back is then connected to the suspended cord, wire, or cable.
How do you hang an art picture rail?
The picture hanging system's location on your wall is the first thing you need to decide. Depending on the height of the space, a picture hanging system is typically installed either 300mm or 500mm from the ceiling. Although there is no hard and fast rule to follow, placing picture rail 300mm from the ceiling is the way to go for conventional 8-foot ceilings. Instead, do what you think would look best in the space.
Use a tape measure and pencil to mark the wall at the appropriate height once you've selected where picture hanging rail will go. Using the tape measure, measure down 300mm from the ceiling, and mark that location on the wall with a pencil. Make a straight line across the wall with a spirit level to serve as a guide for the picture hanging rail to be installed. Use the center bubble to check that the spirit level is positioned correctly before placing it on the mark you just made. When everything is properly aligned, extend the mark by placing additional marks at regular intervals along the length of the spirit level. Continue doing this until all of the wall has guide markings.
The following step is to draw a chalk line along your markings to establish a firm guideline that can be quickly removed once the task is finished. To do this, drive a pin or nail near the corner where the picture hanging rail will ultimately be installed on the wall. The chalk line should be extended over the wall after being attached to the nail at one end. With your fingers, hold the other end of the line so that it runs over each of the guide markings you have made in that area and is flat against the wall.
You are now prepared to secure the first component of the picture hanging rail in place. Apply adhesive to the back of the picture hanging rail component that you are about to install. Lift the picture hanging rail component that has adhesive on the back of it and place it against the wall. Push the gallery hanging system rail firmly against the wall after positioning one end of it towards the corner and making sure its centre is parallel to the chalk line. Use a nail gun to quickly pin the center in place through the picture rail hanging into the wall. To hold the picture hanging rail firmly in place, continue to pin through it at regular intervals throughout its length.
The second rail system components go together quite similarly to the first piece. Similar to before, begin by drawing the chalk line, but this time, place the spirit level beneath the piece of picture hanging rail that is already installed (in the corner). Make your guide markings along the length of the spirit level at regular intervals as before, holding it so that the bubble indicates everything is properly aligned. Repeat the process of putting the chalk line to the wall after the markings are in place.
The next piece of picture rail must be "scribed" in order for the first and second sections to fit together properly and make a smooth interior corner because the first portion of the picture hanging rail was fitted tightly to the corner.
A 45-degree angle will be cut out of the end of the picture hanging rail that will be placed next to the component you just installed using a mitre saw. Take the second piece of picture rail and butt it up to the first in the corner to help ensure you do this correctly. Then, on the top of the picture rail that needs to be cut, mark the cut's direction with a pencil.
Use your mitre saw to cut the end of the designated piece of picture rail at a 45-degree angle. Once this is finished, cut the profile from one end of the picture rail using a coping saw.
The rail system can then be fitted using grab adhesive and pins as before once the end has been scribed. To finish the room, carry out the same procedure with the other picture rail components. When all of the picture rails are in place, use decorators' caulk to seal any seams and clean up everything before painting.
What range of picture hanging systems are there?
At Eyevolution, we have four main systems that allow you to display your art:
Info Rail - Hanging systems for documents and drawings
For neatly displaying cards, posters, drawings, or photos, Info Rail is the best option. In classrooms and school hallways, Info Rail has proven especially crucial. In addition, the display system is the ideal option for sharing or displaying information at home or at the workplace. Paper weighing between 80 g and 2 mm thick cardboard can be firmly clamped into the rail.
Info Rail Me - Picture hanging systems for schools
The newest member of the Info Rail family, Info Rail me, adds a new feature to the already well-liked document hanging systems. The "me clip," which doubles as a name tag and an information tool, adds the finishing touch of individuality to artwork. No matter how often they are used, the clips are flexible and retain their original appearance.
Info Rail + - Picture hanging systems with picture ledges
Info Rail + combines the benefits of the Info Rail with the capacity to showcase home décor accents like picture frames or books. Slide photos, recipes, sketches, or posters, as well as display items on the shelf at the top of the rail, with ease.
Card Rails - Vertical picture hanging systems
Info Strip is suited for a range of situations at home or the office because it takes up very little space. Info Strip is a hanging system that allows you to collect and/or show papers like cards, photographs, and drawings. The metal strip can accommodate documents on both sides, and photos, cards, and other items can be displayed on the rail's front using magnets.
